Hi, welcome to our new blog all about asset based community development across the city of Leeds. We will be using this platform to share good news stories about the incredible transformative work happening in communities across the wonderful city of Leeds, UK.
Put very simply, asset-based community development is a different approach to working with communities that starts from a place that shines a light on what assets a community has rather than starting from a point of deficit and focusing on what is wrong in communities.
By starting from what is strong rather than what is wrong, asset-based community development offers an opportunity to build on the skills of local residents, the power of local associations, and the supportive functions of local institutions. Asset-based community development draws upon existing community strengths to build stronger, more sustainable communities for the future.
Join us as we explore the principles of asset-based community development and share stories of how abcd is being used across the city of Leeds to build stronger communities and better outcomes for citizens of our wonderful city.
